How effective is the current learning method within the L&D market?
Hermann Ebbinghaus was a German psychologist who lived in the last century. During his lifetime, he did frequent research on memory. He was curious about how the brain works and wanted to know, for example, why and how quickly you forget things. Several (recent) scientific articles have been published about this, including:
Ebbinghaus concluded the following:
- In the first 20 minutes after learning or gaining an insight, you have already forgotten more than 40% of this knowledge.
- After an hour, you have already forgotten 56%.
- After a day, you have forgotten about 70%.
- After a week you have already forgotten 75%.
- After a month, about 80% of the knowledge and insights are gone.

Couldn't that be more efficient?
Because of the traditional way of learning, the Return on Investment for person and organization in the most favorable situation is maximum 21% after 31 days. This means that about 80% of the learning process, the time invested, the effort, the financial investment and practical applicability is lost within a month!
Why is the current learning method ineffective?
